Federal Work Study
Federal Work-Study (FWS) is a federally funded program supporting part-time employment opportunities to students on and off-campus. FWS eligibility is determined by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), satisfactory academic progress, and maintaining a minimum of 6 credit hours in your degree or certificate program during FWS employment.
Participating in the FWS program provides you with:
- A bi-weekly paycheck to assist with college and personal expenses
- The convenience of working on-campus around your class schedule
- Practical job experience to enhance your resume and marketability
- A unique behind-the-scenes look at the operations of a community college
- Networking opportunities through meeting and working with teachers, administrators, local businesses nonprofit organizations, and other students
Federal Work Study students typically work 10 to 20 hours per week and earn $15 an hour. Job placement depends upon available jobs at the College and student qualifications. Off-campus job opportunities are available with nonprofit organizations and elementary school reading and math tutors.
