ITE 100 Introduction to Information Systems (F, Sp, 3 cr)
Covers the fundamentals of computers and computing and topics which include impact of computers on society, ethical issues and terminology. Provides discussion about available hardware and software as well as their application.

ITE 105 IT Careers & Cyber Ethics (F, Sp, 2 cr)
Career paths in Information Technology will be explored to help the student determine the appropriate degree plan. Career paths will include but not be limited to software development, computer science, database, networking, system administration and operations, end user support, web design and management. The student will learn ethical concerns in business and information technology including the ACM Code of Ethics.
ITE 119 Information Literacy (F, Sp, Su, 3 cr)
Presents the information literacy core competencies focusing on the use of information technology skills. Skills and knowledge will be developed in database searching, computer applications, information security and privacy and intellectual property issues.
Recommended: 20 wpm keyboarding skills. Office 2010 is required for this course and is available in our computer labs.

ITE 120 Principles of Information Systems (F, Sp, Su, 3 cr)
Provides an overview of the fundamentals of computer information systems. Focuses on the role of computers in business today including hardware, software, analysis, design and implementation of information systems. Includes an introduction to computer ethics and business and personal security. Exposes students to techniques used in programming and system development. Utilizes a hands-on component for spreadsheets, databases and web design applications.

ITE 141 Microcomputer Software: Spreadsheets (F, Sp, Su, 1 cr)
Provides first-time users with sufficient information to make practical use of spreadsheet software using the basic of building spreadsheets.
Recommended: 20 wpm keyboarding skills and mouse proficiency. Office 2010 is required for this course and is available in our computer labs.

ITE 150 Desktop Database Software (Sp, 4 cr)
Incorporates instruction in planning, defining and using a database; performing queries; producing reports; working with multiple files; and concepts of database programming. Course topics include database concepts, principles of table design and table relationships, entering data, creating and using forms, using data from different sources, filtering, creating mailing labels. This course covers MOS Access certification objectives.
Prerequisite: Completed ITE 119, ITE 120 or CSC 110.
ITE 151 Microcomputer Software: Database Management
(1 cr)
Presents first-time users with sufficient information to make practical use of database management software using the basics of building databases. This course covers specific business applications.

ITE 175 E-mail Essentials (F, Sp, Su, 1 cr)
Focuses on providing the student with a working knowledge of introductory email function. Includes the basic concepts of customizing email and using all the email capabilities for reading, creating, sending emails, managing calendar functions and managing contacts, tasks and notes.

ITE 182 User Support/Help Desk Principles (F, Sp, 3 cr)
Introduces a variety of tools and techniques that are used to provide user support in help desk operations. Includes help desk concepts, customer service skills, troubleshooting problems, writing for end users, help desk operations and software, needs analysis, facilities management and other related topics related to end user support.
ITE 200 Technology for Teachers (TSIP) (F, 3 cr)
Provides K-12 classroom teachers with the knowledge and skills needed to fulfill the Commonwealth of Virginia's Technology Standards for Instructional Personnel. Students will finish the course with a solid understanding of educational technology, including how to use computers, now to access information on the World Wide Web and how to integrate computers and educational technology into classroom curriculum. Students will learn how to base technology integration decisions on contemporary learning theories.

ITE 215 Advanced Computer Applications & Integration
(4 cr)
Incorporates advanced computer concepts including the integration of a software suite.
Prerequisites: Completed ITE 119, ITE 120 or CSC 110. Office 2010 is required for this course and is available in our computer labs. This course helps prepare students for Microsoft's MCAS certification exams.
ITE 221 PC Hardware & OS Architecture (Su, 3 cr)
Covers instruction about processors, internal functions, peripheral devices, computer organization, memory management, architecture, instruction format and basic OS architecture.
ITE 290 Internship (Sp, Su, 3 cr)
Supervised on-the-job training in approved business, industrial and service firms coordinated by the college. Applicable to all career and technical and transfer curricula at the discretion of the college. May be repeated for credit.
