Bartleby.com has literature, reference and verse available online for free.
Project Gutenberg makes information, books and other materials available to the general public in forms you can easily read, use, quote and search. It began in 1971 and has more than 20,000 texts on-line.
Digital General Collection - University of Michigan offers nearly 30,000 volumes from their collection online.

PVCC Career Services provides career development services for students who wish to explore a career or prepare for employment.
Occupational Outlook Handbook is the online version of the standard reference book produced by the Bureau of Labor Statistics about careers. Entries for individual occupations include information about training, qualifications, employment outlook, earnings and related occupations.

Factiva allows searching of 6,000 full-text news and business publications by word or phrase and date.
Newspaper Source Plus has full text articles for national and international newspapers and television and radio news transcripts.
Facts on File is a database of information from news sources about events, people, issues, facts and figures over the last 60 years.

Pictures

ARTstor provides access to approximately one million images from the fine arts, architecture, humanities and social sciences. The Picture Collection is a collection of Time-Life pictures from the 20th century. While the database exists primarily for marketing within the publishing industry, this is a wonderful resource for educational purposes. Free registration requires you to agree to the terms of use of the pictures.

Prizes

The Pulitzer Prizes is a list of the winners in each category for every year since 1917, the year the prize was founded.
The Nobel Foundation Web site has a searchable database of Nobel Prize winners, biographical information, lectures and more.

Quotations

Bartlett's Familiar Quotations is a well-known collection of passages, phrases and proverbs. Search by words or alphabetical list of authors.
